How Do All ,
Today`s short post relates to a small part of the brewing notebook of Robert Ridland Tait ;
It`s Part of the Scottish & Newcastle Breweries Collection at the internationally important
Scottish Brewing Archive , Cared for by the ever helpfull team up in Glasgow ,
at The University of Glasgow Special Collections & Archives on Thurso St .
Catalogue No : SNM 6 / 1 / 4 .
The notebook contains the Malts , Hops and Sugars used in each brew ,
though annoyingly the names of the beers are recorded in a brewer`s code .
Happily the barrels declared and the Original Gravity are recorded ; though sadly absent are the attenuation records to Racking Point , and the Yeast Pitch Rate,
Thus the racking and final gravities are my own inference .
Sadly these few brewings from the post second world war are the only ones I`ve been able
to trace from this major Edinburgh brewer; If any readers know of any earlier Mc Ewan`s
records , Especially any from the 19 Th Century I`d love to see photos !!!
